We’ve been flocked!

To be fair, we flocked first. If you follow us on Instagram or Facebook, you know as soon as we read about the Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay Service Unit 30’s fundraiser in the Cape Gazette, we couldn’t resist flocking a friend who loves flamingos!

The Travel Group, led by Janet Maher, comprises older girls from all over the council that range in age from 14 to 18. They are working hard to raise money for a trip to London, Paris and Barcelona next summer. For a $25 donation, they sneak 50 bright pink flamingos on to a lawn for 36 hours, with a yard sign and a flyer explaining the flocking. And they really do sneak!

I was home all afternoon yesterday when it happened, and didn’t hear a thing. Most of the time I was in the living room, those windows right above the shop, where it seems like we can hear everything that happens on Union St. Except for girl scouts placing pink flamingos in the rain!

The girl scouts are highly skilled – removal of pink flamingos should not be attempted by untrained amateurs. They do offer to come and get them sooner if the flockee is not amused. But who wouldn’t be? To flock a friend, contact the Flock Master at janet.maher@yahoo.com or 302-258-3327 before Sept. 15.
