Featured Artist: Bethany Minner

The Ogre and I recently binged the first two seasons of The Mandalorian – followed by all the Star Wars movies in timeline order, as I had missed most of Episodes 1 – 6 growing up. My first job was babysitting a kid only a few years younger than me – and he watched the same one, Return of the Jedi, over and over again. Although I wanted to cuddle the Ewoks, that ruined me on wanting to sit down and watch the rest until I was an adult. Sure I caught bits and pieces here and there and appreciated the characters, but it wasn’t until The Force Awakens in 2015 that I started considering myself a Star Wars fan.

And you know I’ve always loved sparkles, so when a fellow Delaware artist, Bethany Minner, contacted us about carrying her handmade items at Ogre’s Grove, I jumped at the glittery resin keychains of Darth Vader and stormtroopers in every color of the rainbow, plus faux leather earrings like the Skyrim emblem pair I shared to Instagram earlier this month!

Bethany has done crafts for as long as she can remember, ranging from crochet to painting to drawing. She loves creating things for people to enjoy, and pulls influence from artists she admires like Michael Turner and Todd McFarlane, and hobbies she loves like video games and anime. Her cute drawings, including Mando and Baby Yoda, are available as stickers in her Etsy shop, Floofy Spartan.

Bethany told me, “I’m trying to pursue my dream of being a full-time artist so I can show my kids it’s never too late to chase your dreams!”
